IPL 2018, Final: CSK v SRH fantasy picks

The final showdown is here. The last match of this year’s IPL and two of the best teams will lock horns to lift the trophy. It is not going to be easy after all. CSK has beaten SRH in all their three previous meetings in this year so far and SRH will be hoping to bounce back.

Kane Williamson as a captain took a courageous decision to make changes to his team the other night. His captaincy needs a special mention as well but the night well and truly belonged to Rashid Khan. For CSK, it is wonderful that all their players have won at least one match for the team. Looking at the form of both the teams, CSK is stronger but as said, it is not going to be easy after all.

Safe Pick

Rashid Khan
Last match crickingduels fantasy points 220

No wonders here. Expect more fireworks from him in the all-important finale against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.

Hot pick

Lungi Ngidi
Last match crickingduels fantasy points 55

The South African pacer has used the conditions well so far. He by far is the best bowler the Chennai Super Kings needed.

Tricky Pick

Shane Watson
Last match crickingduels fantasy points 9

Dhoni’s bowling options are too strong that he didn’t have to use Watson in his recent games. The CSK opener is finding hard to get his timing right as well.

The darkhorse

Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Last match crickingduels fantasy points 13

The Indian frontline bowler is taken for a lot in his recent games and for Sunrisers, which is termed as the best bowling team, they need Bhuvneshwar Kumar to bounce back.

IPL 2018, Eliminator KKR v RR: Fantasy picks

A few days back most of us would have written both the teams off especially Rajasthan Royals.
Who would have thought Rajasthan Royals to defeat Bangalore without Buttler and Stokes?
And KKR, without a star-studded line-up, solely believed on their talent and came this far.
Who will go through today?

Here are the picks for today

Dinesh Karthik
Last match crickingduels fantasy points 66

Karthik has led his team from the front with the bat as well. He got out only once in the successful chases for the team. This shows the consistency of the new finisher.

Nitish Rana
Last match crickingduels fantasy points 19

Coming from the injury, Rana hasn’t clicked in the second half of the IPL. He is one of the prospects for the team, and KKR will be hoping that he comes back to form today.

Rahul Tripathi
Last match crickingduels fantasy points 149

The main reason why Rajasthan is here at the playoffs. In the absence of Buttler, he took up the responsibility and anchored the innings well the other night. Rajasthan will be hoping that he continues to play this good.

The DarkHorse

Prasidh Krishna
Last match crickingduels fantasy points 117

The youngster has done well, and now he leads the bowling attack for KKR. He rarely misses his line and length and keeps it straight and simple.

Where: Eden Gardens, Kolkata
Conditions: Expect plenty of runs

CSK 11-6 KKR

Nitish Rana had to retire hurt in the last match and might miss today’s game as well due to lower back spasm. In that case, Gill will be batting up the order, and Rinku Singh will be the finisher. Johnson was expensive; Tom Curran might be given a chance again.

Probable XI: Sunil Narine, Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana/Rinku Singh, Dinesh Karthik (C & WK), Andre Russell, Shubman Gill, Shivam Mavi, Piyush Chawla, Mitchell Johnson, Kuldeep Yadav.

It was one of the rarest occasions where Dhoni opted to make four changes for the team. He is unlike to make more. Still, there’s a slight chance that Bravo might sit out to make way for David Willey or Imran Tahir. Shardul Thakur might return as well.

Probable XI: Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Dwayne Bravo/David Willey/Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja, Karn Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Lungi Ngidi, KM Asif/Shardul Thakur

Crickingduels Fantasy tips: RCB v KKR

When: 8 April 2018, 2000Hrs (IST)

Where: Eden Gardens, Kolkata

Team Head to Head

Overall: Matches – 20, Kolkata Knight Riders won – 11, Royal Challengers Bangalore won – 9

At the Eden Gardens: Matches – 8, Kolkata Knight Riders won – 5, Royal Challengers Bangalore won – 3

When these two teams met at the Eden Gardens last season, KKR bundled out RCB for 49 in 9.4 overs – the lowest team total in the history of IPL.

Fantasy Picks:
Narine and Lynn were explosive at the start for KKR the last season. They might continue their great run here too. Dinesh Karthik – who will be playing his first game since the match-winning last ball six in Sri Lanka – will be expected to make big contributions with the bat.

RCB yet again have a solid batting line-up, and unlike the past where it was top-heavy, this season they have quality batting options right through. However, there will still be dependence on the top-order – likely to comprise Brendon McCullum (or Quinton de Kock), Virat Kohli & AB de Villiers – to do the bulk of the damage.

The spinners will be in the spotlight for both the teams. KKR have Yadav and Narine and for RCB Sundar and Chahal.

CSK v MI Fantasy tips: CSK predicted playing XI

The clash of the rivals is here. Two of the strongest teams in the IPL will lock horns for the first match of this year’s IPL. A lot has been changed since two years when CSK made their last appearance in the IPL.

For Wankhede, the batsmen’s fortress, this is how I will line ‘my’ Chennai Team.

This ‘probable’ is based on the player’s current form and their past records in IPL.

For the openers, I will go with Watson and Murali Vijay as Faf is out of the match. Their experience will come in handy. Watson is in great form, while Murali Vijay’s record as an opener for CSK is great.

Suresh Raina, the highest run-getter in IPL will come in next. That’s no surprise. He is the perfect option for number three. I will opt for Dhoni to come in at number four because it’s important to give him more deliveries to play.

Sam Billings at number five. The England player did well at this position for his team, Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash.

Bowlers and All-rounders:

Dwayne Bravo at number six. Everybody knows how good he is down the order with Jadeja to follow at number seven. Bhajji at number eight, Mark Wood at number nine, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar at number ten and eleven.

Deepak Chahar is the leading wicket-taker of this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Thakur’s good performances earned him a place in Indian playing XI with Mark Wood being the main strike bowler, the team’s pace attack is excellent in away games.

Jadeja and Bhajji will take care of the spin department while Raina, as usual, can have an over or two in the middle.

PROBABLE: Shane Watson, Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Sam Billings, Dwayne Bravo, Ravi Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Mark Wood, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur.

CSK v MI- Preview

Two of the biggest and the strongest teams lock horns in the inaugural match of the IPL. Yes, the rivalry is back.

Chennai Super Kings returns to the IPL after two years and will face the defending champions in the first match. The match surely is going to be nothing short of entertainment.

Let’s take a look at how the match might turn out:

Date: April 7

Venue: Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Time: 20:00 IST

Pitch conditions:
Wankhede has always been a batting paradise leaving nothing for the bowlers. 190 will be a good target here.

Impact Batsmen:

Keep an eye on the two left-hand openers Ishan Kishan and Ewin Lewis. With Rohit Sharma, Pandya brothers and Pollard to follow, the batting looks extremely strong.

For CSK,
The team is filled with the immense amount of talent. Faf most likely will open the innings with probably Murali Vijay. Yes, both the batsmen are highly effective, but not as explosive as the Mumbai Indians openers. Suresh Raina will hold the key here coming in at number three. It will be interesting to see if Dhoni bats up the order. MS Dhoni, who according to coach Stephen Fleming ‘will play a more prominent role as batsman’ are the ones to keep a close watch on.

Impact Bowlers:

Coming to Mumbai’s bowling, Indian death overs specialist Jasprit Bumrah, in-form Pat Cummins, and with few strong options, in the form of Mustafizur Rahman, Mumbai’s fast bowling looks strong. The problems arise with the weak spin options. Unlike CSK, Mumbai doesn’t have an experienced spinner on whom they can rely on. Hopefully, the youngsters will come good for the team.

Chennai Super Kings has excellent spinning options in the team, but their pace bowling options are not as good as Mumbai Indians. The team will rely on Bravo and Watson. Mark Wood, Ngidi, Chahar, Thakur will need to step up for the team.

Head to head:

Overall: Matches – 22, Mumbai Indians won – 12, Chennai Super Kings won – 10

At the Wankhede Stadium: Matches – 7, Mumbai Indians won – 5, Chennai Super Kings won – 2

MI have held dominated CSK in recent times; MI have prevailed in the last three matches against CSK.

Overseas players who played all the seasons of IPL

Overseas players always played a main in the IPL teams. Though the players played for different teams, they always were in demand. When we look back, right from 2008, there are only four overseas players who played in all the seasons.

1. Dwayne Bravo
Credits: Google

He started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians. He was picked by CSK in 2011. From then on, his career took a different path. He won the purple cap in 2013, holds the record for most number of wickets in one season- 32.
His 122 wickets that came at a decent average of 22.58 and an economy rate of 8.2 are proof of his value as a bowler. His accuracy while executing the slower ball yorkers in the death overs made him difficult for batsmen to face.

He is also excellent with the bat, Scored 1262 runs in his 106 matches at a strike rate of 126.32. CSK have yet again shown faith in Bravo’s abilities and he will be looking to repay it by replicating his past performances that helped them being so successful.

2. Brendon McCullum
Credits: Google

The Kiwi batsman gave IPL the fitting start with an excellent 158* for Kolkatta. Bazz has always been a potent weapon in every IPL team that he has turned out for. He represented KKR in the period 2008-2010 and again in 2012-2013 after a one year stint with the now defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala and then formed a solid opening partnership with Dwayne Smith for CSK in 2014-2015 which continued to exist for Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 2017 seasons.

In his 103 IPL appearances, McCullum has scored 2753 runs, including 124 sixes, at an average of 28.09 and at a brisk scoring rate of 131.22. He has 13 50’s to his name and is one of the few batsmen to have scored 2 IPL centuries. A proven match winner, the former KKR captain has been awarded the Man of the Match on 5 occasions. The only thing he did not enjoy success as far as the IPL is concerned is his stint as captain as he won only 3 of his 14 matches.

In this IPL, he will be part of Bangalore. The team will be hoping that he could repeat some of his classic knocks to give Bangalore a massive start at the front.

3. AB de Villiers
Credits: Google

The man who is loved by almost everyone has been a wonderful entertainer of the game.

After having served a successful stint with Delhi Daredevils in the first three IPL seasons, by whom he surprisingly let go, de Villiers was bought by RCB prior to IPL 2011. He is one of the major reasons why RCB have been considered as the most dreaded batting lineups of all time as he formed an integral part of the trio of Gayle-Kohli-AB.

In his 127 IPL matches, de Villiers has accumulated 3426 runs at a healthy average of 38.07 and a glaring strike rate of 148.18. He has hit 153 sixes in the tournament, most of which have often left crowds gaping and bowlers dumbfounded. With 22 50’s, 3 centuries and a best of 133* to his name, AB de Villiers is an all-time IPL legend. His worth as a match winner is best demonstrated by his 15 Man of the Match awards.

With Bazz in the team, RCB will surely be one of the best fielding team. Watch them fly.
