SL v WI: Fantasy Analysis

Lahiru Kumara
Kumara toppled four for 58 off 23.3 overs including five maidens in the first innings of Sri Lanka’s third Test with the West Indies.

Fantasy Analysis

Kumara has been outstanding this calendar year, taking 17 wickets in eight innings at an average of 25.47 including three four-wicket hauls. The 21-year-old seamer has really come into his own this series and both bowled the most overs of any Sri Lankan bowler in the first innings and at the best economy of the bunch.

Shane Dowrich
Dowrich totalled 71 off 132 including nine boundaries in the first innings of the West Indies third Test with Sri Lanka.

Fantasy Analysis

The wicketkeeper has been excellent with the bat in 2018 after starting his career relatively slowly. In 33 innings coming into this year, he had one century and five half-centuries. However, in six innings this year, he has his best-career Test score (an unbeaten 125 against Sri Lanka) and two half-centuries including his first innings, a 115-run partnership with Jason Holder on the sixth wicket.

Jason Holder
Holder top-scored with 74 off 123 including 13 boundaries with the bat and toppled four for 19 off 16 overs including eight maidens with the ball in the first innings of the West Indies third Test with Sri Lanka.

Fantasy Analysis

The Windies skipper did a little bit of everything and then some. His 115-run sixth wicket partnership with Shane Dowrich salvaged the West Indies’ innings with the bat and then made sure that the Sri Lanka tail wouldn’t steal runs late, conceding at just 1.18 an over with half of his overs going for maidens. While he may neither be the best batsman in the side nor the best bowler, he’s shown an ability to turn in a captain’s knock with the bat (his seventh fifty of his 32 match career) and do more than just control the run rate with the ball (his second four-for).

AUS v ENG, 1st T20: Players to watch out for

After a 5-0 whitewash in the ODIs, Australia will take on England once again. This time, for the shorter format. While England is a massive force, the young guns representing Australia cannot be taken lightly because the team is backed by the Big Bash experience and IPL for a few.

Talking about IPL, Buttler got this ‘Midas touch’ when he was asked to open the innings for Rajasthan Royals. He will be their main man today. Almost every single batsmen in England have got their form right on top getting into this T20I series. Whereas, Australian batsmen will have a work to do here.

Talking about the bowling, both the teams will have a tough time here. Having said that, Australian bowlers did well in the IPL, especially, Andrew Tye.

Both Alex Carey and Tim Paine will be under the scanner to perform well today.

Here are the players to watch out for:

Jos Buttler: Buttler is having an extraordinary season with the bat. Right from the IPL, he is leading the team from the front, and in the last ODI, he took Australia home with his brilliant hundred.

Alex Carey: The newly appointed Vice-captain will look to make his mark in the T20Is

Moeen Ali: Australia couldn’t read Ali’s variation, and he will look to rattle Australia once again.

Aaron Finch: After 5-0 whitewash in the ODIs, the shorter format might bring some luck to the captain.

IND A v WI A: Players to watch out for

Here are the players to watch out for:

Deepak Chahar: Right from the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Chahar has announced himself. He had a great season with IPL champions CSK and is continuing to dominate the batsmen.

Prithvi Shaw: Except the last match, Shaw’s run in the tournament is impressive. He will be looking to bounce back today.

Jason Mohammed: The captain will be looking to lead from the front and will be keen to make a mark today.

K Paul: Paul received the ’emerging player of the year’ award from the Windies cricket board recently. He will be under the radar to perform well.
