Three reasons why Rajasthan Royals will win the IPL

The team which is making their comeback after two years has already lost their captain Steve Smith and Ajinkya Rahane has taken over the captaincy.

Here are the three reasons why Royals can clinch the title

1. Smith’s absence, a blessing in disguise

Yes, you read it right!
Steve Smith is one of the best players, and he did take his team, now defunct Rising Pune Supergiants to the final in the last year’s IPL, but ask me if he is a fine T20I player, I would say a no. Yes, he is consistent, but strike rate is just above 125, which isn’t that great compared to the hard-hitters available in the team.
If no Smith, Royals will have that freedom to go with Stokes, Short, Buttler, Archer or anyone else. Every one knows Buttler’s and Stokes’ hard-hitting ability. Short and Archer were exceptional in the recently concluded Big Bash League. With so many other options available. It is a blessing in disguise.

2. Shane Warne is back

In 2008, the inaugural IPL saw the weakest team on paper- The Royals went on to win the title. The man behind the inspirational run for the team was their captain Shane Warne.

He is back as the coach and mentor of the team. His influence will act as that push which the players need.

3. Young talents

Rajasthan Royals has always promoted new talents than any other franchise. Every single season, Royals have had unknown uncapped stars who made it big.
For example,
Deepak Hooda, Sanju Samson, Naman Ojha made heads turn through their IPL performances.
With new talents on the box, the team looks fantastic.

Players to watch out for:
Royals went into the auction with a clear-cut mindset of picking the in-form players. They bagged the big bash stars- Archer, Laughlin and Short. Rahul Tewaria is another interesting pick.

Pakistan v West Indies- Fantasy picks

As the cricket finally returned to Pakistan, The crowd that turned out to witness the match-up was incredible. Ask me if it lived up to the expectation- As a cricket fan it’s a no, but for a Pakistan fan it was something they wanted. Pakistan rattled the weak Windies convincingly by 143 runs. Can Windies bounce back to at least put on a fight?
My fantasy pick for the match would be:

Hussain Talat (PAK)– The debutant carried his fine form from the PSL to provide a swashbuckling performance and took Pakistan to a massive win yesterday.

Shoaib Malik (PAK)– The Pakistan legend is in an excellent form. He smashed 37 off 14 deliveries and picked two wickets in the previous encounter.

Keemo Paul (WI)– When everyone went for runs, Paul kept it tight, gave away only 26 runs, picked a wicket. Considerably the top performer for the West Indian team.

Chadwick Walton (WI)- The feeble West Indian team needs someone to take up the responsibility, smash at the top of the innings. Walton is the man to do that!

Three reasons why Hyderabad can win the IPL

If I say that they still have an opportunity, most of you will laugh because that is how Warner has been to this team. He was a great captain, an excellent leader and most importantly their best batsman.

In the absence of Warner, the team does look vulnerable. Still, they do have good options to make a better line-up.

More options:

Sunrisers Hyderabad did exceptionally well in the auction to pick two players for a spot. They have the strongest bench strength.

Bowling strength:

Hyderabad is a bowling-dependent team. Normally, Warner and Dhawan smashed at the top takes the team to a decent total and their bowlers will come out and defend the total with ease.

Indian pitches normally provide support to the spinners. With three international spinners in the team, Hyderabad will be determined to produce a wonderful show.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been the backbone. Where ever he plays, he is the most reliable bowler for the team. He obviously is the key player and someone who will be leading the bowlers from the front.

Also, with the likes of Shakib, Nabi, Rashid Khan, the team looks good.

Opportunity:

The players like Deepak Hooda, Basil Thampi knows how important this IPL is.

Deepak Hooda made it to the squad of the Indian team for the Nidahas Trophy but didn’t get a chance to play. With one good IPL season, he can seal his spot in the team.

Basil Thampi did well for the Gujarat Lions in the previous season. With no third or fourth consistent pacer in the team, Thampi can become one.

Do you Remember the first season where Rajasthan Royals were the underdogs but went on to win the cup?
Hyderabad needs something like that.

Three reasons why Delhi Daredevils can win this IPL

Delhi Daredevils is one of the strongest contenders of this year IPL. With the right mix of the youngsters and the old guns, the team is raring to go.

1. Gambhir is back; Ponting, the head coach

With Gambhir’s homecoming Delhi the confidence of the team will be high. To add the cherry to the cake, Ricky Ponting, who was with the defending champions Mumbai Indians will coach Delhi this year. Everybody knows how effective he can be.

Gambhir has been one of the most consistent batsmen when it comes to IPL. If he can continue to dominate at the top, Delhi can win more matches.

2. The big balanced batting lineup

As mentioned before, the team has a right mix of youngsters and old guns. With Munro, Roy, Gambhir, Shaw as opening options, followed by Pant and Iyer, and with Maxwell and Ojha down the order, the team’s batting is explosive.

3. Bowling strength

Coming to the bowlers, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult and Mohammed Shami backed well by Vijay Shankar, Dan Christian for the pacers and experienced Amit Mishra, Nadeem as the spinners. The team looks excellent.
